A Closer Look At ….. Alton Towers Scarefest

One of the first theme parks too fully announce their Halloween line up was Alton Towers. They started construction on Sub Species quite early in the year, basically unofficially confirming that the maze would be returning. They then confirmed a month or so after construction started what the attractions would be and boy were we in for a few surprises. Lets start with the scare mazes.

This year, Alton Towers will have 4 scare mazes again. One is brand new, but we wave goodbye to what had become a staple of Scarefest. Terror Of The Towers : What Lies Within has been confirmed to not be returning this year. In its place will be Project 42. Returning this year will be The Welcoming, Sub Species – The End Games and Altonville Mine Tours.

Project 42

Sub Species – The End Games

Let the death race begin! Descend deep underground to a post-apocalyptic sewer system. Here your group will be split up and you will choose your own route in an attempt to avoid a sewer dwelling community. The community have to appease the creature that rules over them by sacrificing innocent people from the surface – your demise is now their entertainment!

Altonville Mine Tours

Those brave enough can head to ‘Altonville’ and enter the damp, disused mine, which is believed to have once been home to a family of village outcasts. Nicknamed the ‘Skin Snatchers’ by local residents, their spine-chilling secret is about to be unearthed. Remember ‘Beauty is only skin deep’.

The Welcoming

Followers of the Wicker Man spirit, a mysterious group previously unseen by the modern world, have been sighted within the Resort. Every year the secluded group host a festival to celebrate their own interpretation of Halloween – paying homage to the earth and celebrating the crossover between the living world and the dead. This year they are allowing outsiders to celebrate with them. But what part will you (‘the outsiders’) play in this ritual?

Returning this year is the wonderful House of Monsters. This attraction has been the highlight to Scarefest for a lot of people, myself included.

20 minutes of laughs, frights, theatre and special effects, set in a maze of 7 live shows is perfect for families. Join an up and coming online vlogger who has turned into somewhat of a new-age monster hunter. He is on a modern-day quest to discover the truth about monsters and his trail has led him to what is believed to be a disused house. Will you discover that Monsters have a good side too?

  • Ghost Pirates – This motley crew of pirate wash-ups have followed the sound of the siren all the way to Mutiny Bay.
  • The Towers Gothic ruins are rumoured to be home to a number of supernatural forces – do you get the feeling somebody’s watching from the windows?

Now the technical bit. Scarefest will be open 6th – 7th, 13th – 14th, 19th October – 2nd November 2018. The 3 maze combi ticket is £20.00, £16.00 for MAP’s and Welcoming is £8.00, £6.40 for MAP’s and House of Monsters is £5.00. More information can be found Here!
